From May 16 to 25, Chancellor Wulf Wersig visited San Francisco and Silicon Valley, invited by Axel J. Schulz, Chair of THE BAY AREAS e. V. – San Francisco / Kiel / Schleswig-Holstein.

BUDS Founding President Mike Friedrichsen and Chancellor Wulf Wersig are both born in Schleswig-Holstein and promote connections between Kiel and Berlin. Cause of the invitation were some presentations at the startup enterprise Comfy in Oakland for a Kiel delegation with representatives oft the town administration and the Bay Area.

COMFY – a daughter of SIEMENS – presented its business model: „Comfy connects people, places, and systems to drive employee satisfaction, optimize space utilization, and increase building efficiency.“

A following guidance through the building showed us an inspiring new working place concept and offered lots of stimulations for our BUDS building vision. Thank you, Daniel Schröder and team for those fascinating impressions!

Of course Wersig – accompenied by his son Max, founder of a startup company in Kiel – made an excursion to Silicon Valley and visited the Campus of Google. Staff members and visitors like a melting pot of nations in a stimulant surrounding and inspiring atmosphere, awesome!

During a visit at the Campus of Berkeley, University of California, Chancellor Wersig informed himself about very ambitious Fulltime Certificate Courses in Coding for non-students at Berkeley.

The monumental new building of Apple is still under construction, so it is not possible to visit it, but in Apple‘s visitor center you can see a model with AR per iPads, really a convincing technical solution.

The partnership between San Francisco and Kiel offers lots of contacts and stimulations in digital matters. Berlin University of Digital Sciences will be a part of the network.
