Master Program “Digital Sciences” (M.Sc.)

Studying for a Master’s Degree at BUDS means studying with maximum Flexibility.


    • The programme can be carried out jointly by full-time and part-time students.


    • Compact attendance times plus blended learning make the program interesting even for students who do not live in Berlin.


  • The modules are also offered in English for non-German-speaking students.
    • The central qualification goals are designed in such a way that they can always be achieved through the compulsory modules already defined by name in the overviews plus the elective modules shown – regardless of their freely chosen composition.


  • The degree programme “Digital Sciences” concludes as a “Master of Science” with the addition “Focus … (one of the seven options, depending on the choice)”, or it concludes without the addition of a focus, if someone has selected the modules from several focus areas and at most three of them come from one focus.

Master "Digital Sciences" – The Key Data

  • 120 CP
  • Full-time in 4 semesters, can be studied part-time in 6 semesters
  • Standard size 5 CP x 18 modules + 30 CP Master Thesis
  • Flexible learning (compact attendance times, flipped learning and online seminars)
  • Also targeting statistical competencies as well as data analytics

Central qualification goals

  • Plan and analyze digital transformation and digital value creation in different areas / business segments
  • Analyze and evaluate changes and trends in digital development processes
  • Use of Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence in several digital areas / business areas
  • Design measures for digital analysis and digital data communication and be able to check their concrete chances and risks of implementation with scientific methods.
  • Being able to conduct digital methods and analysis

(c) Optional modules (25 CP)

There are 5 modules available for thematic specialisation, 25 CP worth each – choose one! Depending on their content and in close cooperation with the research institutes of the Berlin University of Digital Sciences, these modules will be offered and published on the university’s homepage at least 6 months in advance. (d) Master Thesis (30 CP)

The aim of the Master’s thesis is to work independently on a specific topic with scientific methods within a given time frame. It is prepared in close cooperation with one of the BUDS research institutes and, if necessary, a company.
